Viscosity Laboratory has developed high accuracy capability to support national viscosity measurement activities. The laboratory is also responsible to provide traceability in viscosity measurement in the country to the primary standard of viscosity. The chart illustrates the traceability scheme for viscosity measurement.

The highest standard maintained in the laboratory is Ubbelohde type Master Viscometer which is being utilized as a primary method for the transparent liquid viscosity measurement. A set of viscosity standards oil ranging from (0.9 to 85,000) mm²/s for kinematic viscosity and (0.7 to 75,000) mPa.s for dynamic viscosity enable NMIM to provide traceability for viscosity measurement at the temperature range of (20 to 100) °C.

Density Laboratory has developed high accuracy capability to support national liquid density measurement activities. The laboratory also responsible to ensure all liquid density measurement in the country meet and comply with global measurement standards. Density Laboratory is accredited in accordance to the MS ISO/IEC 17025. The chart illustrates the traceability for liquid density measurement in Malaysia.

Humidity Laboratory has developed high accuracy capability to support national air temperature and humidity measurement activities. The laboratory also responsible to ensure temperature and humidity measurements in the country meet and comply with global measurement standards.

Thermophysical Properties Laboratory has developed high accuracy capabilities to support thermal expansion measurements of solid materials at temperatures ranging from room temperature to high temperature (~1,000 °C). The laboratory also responsible to ensure all thermophysical properties for thermal expansion measurement in the country meet and comply with the global measurement standards.

Various applications of radiation thermometry encompasses Malaysia’s 12 National Key Economic Area (NKEAs) particularly the Oil & Energy, Palm & Oil, Tourism, Electronics & Electrical, Agriculture and Healthcare. NMIM’s Radiation Thermometry Laboratory is responsible for maintaining and disseminating Malaysia's standards for accurate non-contact temperature measurement in many sectors that spans from medical - human body, food safety - frozen food to manufacturing - metal production.

Resistance Thermometry Laboratory has developed high accuracy capability to support national temperature measurement activities. The laboratory also responsible to ensure all Resistance Thermometry measurement in the country meet and comply with the International Temperature Scale-1990.
