Scientific Metrology

Water Meter Laboratory has developed capabilities for accuracy and endurance testing of water meter for pattern approval purposes, in accordance to OIML R49.

Air Speed Laboratory has developed high accuracy capability to support air speed measurement activities. The primary method for air speed calibration is made using anemometers and pitot tube. The air speed ranging from 0.20 m/s to 30.00 m/s.

Low Pressure Gas Laboratory has developed high accuracy capability to support low pressure gas flow measurement activities and to ensure all measurement in the country comply with the international measurement standards. The chart illustrates the traceability for low pressure gas flow measurement in Malaysia.

The primary method for gas flow is the volumetric method. The laboratory is capable to calibrate gas meters ranging from 0.06 Litres/hr to 65 m3/hr.

Liquid Volume Laboratory is responsible to ensure all measurement in the country comply with the international measurement standards. The chart illustrates the traceability for volume measurement in Malaysia.

The primary method for liquid volume calibration is the gravimetric method. The volume ranging from 2 mL to 25 L with the best uncertainty of 0.002 mL at 2 mL.
