The Proficiency Testing and Measurement Audit (PT/MA) conducted by NMIM serves as one of the pillars of Malaysia’s National Quality Infrastructure. PT/MA activities strengthen national measurement capability by supporting the growth of laboratories accredited to relevant ISO/IEC standards and the expansion of their calibration and testing scopes.

NMIM conducts structured inter-laboratory comparisons through proficiency testing and measurement audit, using reference values that are traceable to the International System of Units (SI) to demonstrate the technical competence of calibration and testing laboratories. Each year, over 70 PT and 150 MA programs are delivered across all metrology disciplines in accordance with ISO/IEC 17043.

Through globally accepted PT/MA reports, laboratories can validate measurement performance, benchmark technical capability, and drive continual improvement, strengthening quality assurance, supporting regulatory and accreditation requirements, and enhancing confidence in measurement results nationally and internationally.
