From Our Chairman

The establishment of the National Measurement Council (NMC) and its functions are set out in Part IV of the National Measurement System Act 2007 (Act 675). The main function of NMC is as an advisor on all matters related to the objectives of national policy for the measurement system activities.
NMC is also responsible for submitting proposals to increase international confidence in measurement activities in Malaysia; support Malaysia's international obligations on measurement; facilitate Government policy in national and international trade, serve the public interest in health, safety and the environment; enabling scientific research and development to be implemented as well as facilitating the development of the Malaysian economy.
National Metrology Institute of Malaysia (NMIM) is the Secretariat of National Measurement Council (NMC).
The first meeting of National Measurement Council (NMC) with the new members line-up was held on 2 July 2020 in NMIM Sepang.
Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Dr. Ahmad Tajuddin Ali, FASC, P.Eng; as the new NMC Chairman congratulated all the nine (9) members on their appointment by the Minister of International Trade & Industry and also thanked them for accepting the appointment.
Y.Bhg. Tan Sri, in his Opening Remarks had also highlighted to all members the importance of NMC's function to the country as stated in Clause 13 of National Measurement System Act 2007 (Act 675).
